For the Aromatic Journey post over at Lillyella today I contributed a rather lengthy piece about categorizing fragrances into families. If I had published the post here it would have been placed within the "In the Raw" archives where we learn about the raw materials of botanical perfume. There is also a recipe there to create a Layered Spice Oil.
Last month's contribution focused on creating a Vanilla Infused Oil base, follow this link to read and get the recipe card. While you are there be sure to check out her latest Etsy Artist feature and enter the Giveaway.

Thanks for interesting and inspiring reading, Roxana. By the way - about making the layered infused oil. Would you advice to powder the spice (that would be better from scientific point of view) or just to crush them or use the whole (that would be more interesting from esthetic point of view)? May be you also have a picture of an infusion process to illustrate? Thanks in advance.
Max, this is both a visual & scented delight. The spices are left whole because the visual aspect is so pretty of all the layers of colors and textures. Since spices give up their aroma so easily you will still get a powerful infusion at the end.
I am so sorry but at the moment I do not have any photos to provide visual reference.
